Sing Out for Reconciliation – Queenscliff
Reconciliation Queenscliffe invites the community to join us in singing the National Reconciliation Week 2026 theme song Beds are Burning by Midnight Oil. Shedding the Blues, Sea of Ukes and the New Swell Choir will present this year’s theme song. This is a FREE event. All are welcome.
Reconciliation Queenscliffe is proud to announce that our Reconciliation Week events for the young people of the Borough of Queenscliffe and their families, and the community as a whole, are back in 2026.
‘National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, culture and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation with First Nation people in Australia.
‘Reconciliation Week is book-ended by key dates commemorating the 1967 Referendum on 27 May and the High Court Mabo Decision on 3 June.’
This year’s theme is ALL IN, and we thought it important to reach the whole community. The song for this year is Beds are Burning by Midnight Oil.
Local organisation Shedding the Blues will lead a band of local musicians and singers, complemented by the Sea of Ukes, local choirs and school children, to sing this year’s theme. All the community is welcome to join us at The Hub, Hesse Street, Queenscliffe at 5pm on Friday 29 May.
The team has been busy organising activities, and we look forward to seeing interested and curious children and parents join us for an afternoon of arts, talking and idea sharing at Point Lonsdale Primary School on Saturday 30 May from 2-4 pm.
If you are interested in joining Reconciliation Queenscliffe, please contact us on 0419 876 215. Watch our social media and community notice boards for information about upcoming events
Reconciliation can only happen when we walk together, open our minds, and listen deeply.
