Wombat’s Walk 2026 – Walking Together for Bereaved Children and Families Wombat’s Wish is inviting the community to come together for Wombat’s Walk 2026, a fun-filled community fundraising day on Sunday 11 October, from 10am–3pm at the Portarlington Cricket Club, Sproat Road, Portarlington.

Wombat’s Wish is a Victorian charity providing free, specialist grief support to children and young people following the death of a parent or primary carer. Through residential grief programs, youth programs, counselling and family connection days, Wombat’s Wish helps children understand their grief, develop healthy coping strategies and connect with others who understand what they are going through. Wombat’s Walk is one of the organisation’s major fundraising events, with participants encouraged to walk laps and raise funds individually or as part of a family, school, sporting club, workplace or community team.

The day will be about much more than walking, with live entertainment, market stalls, rides and activities, an animal farm, face painting, food, auctions, special guests and plenty of family fun. Every dollar raised helps Wombat’s Wish continue providing its services completely free of charge to Victorian families. As Wombat’s Wish receives no ongoing government funding, community and corporate support is vital to ensuring no child has to navigate the death of a parent without appropriate support.
