A 16-year-old girl from Truganina and a 15-year-old from Hoppers Crossing are facing a string of charges after allegedly leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase.
The pair and another 15-year-old were allegedly in a stolen car that was pursued from Rockbank to Hoppers in the early hours of Sunday.
According to police the Honda had been stolen during a burglary at Aintree, near Rockbank, late on Saturday night.
It was spotted on the Western Highway at Rockbank at 12.45 Sunday morning, allegedly refusing to stop when police attempted an intercept.
The ensuing pursuit allegedly reached speeds of up to 160km/h before the vehicle was dumped on Sheahan Crescent in Hoppers Crossing.
The Police Air Wing directed officers on the ground to three people seen fleeing the scene.
A 16-year-old girl from Truganina has been charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and bail offences and has been remanded to face a children’s court at a later date.
A 15-year-old Hoppers Crossing girl was charged with burglary, theft of motor vehicle and bail offences and will also face a children’s court at a date to be determined.
A 15-year-old Fitzroy girl was given a caution and released.
