Ambulance workers in Greater Geelong have had one of the toughest quarters on record.

Between April and June teams responded to over five thousand one hundred code one cases, almost five per cent of all code one situations for the state.

Our teams were able to respond to almost three quarters of codes within 15 minutes, up from 70 per cent in the past quarter, while being 13 seconds faster arriving than they were a year ago.

Victorian ambulance workers having their busiest quarter on record, Barwon South West workers responded to more than seven and a half thousand code one incidents.

Ambulance Victoria Barwon South West Regional Director Jessica McGowan said it was a tough period, but ambulance workers had responded.

“The entire health system continues to be extremely busy due to seasonal illness such as flu, COVID-19 and RSV circulating within our communities and our workforce,” she said.

“Our dedicated paramedics and first responders in Barwon South West do an incredible job in the face of record-breaking demand, providing best care to our communities every day.”

“It is important that everyone does their part. If your matter is not an emergency, consider using alternative care options and keep our highly skilled paramedics available for patients most in need.”
