The Environment Protection Authority has begun closely monitoring water quality at the Anglesea River after a death fish event.
A number of fish have been found dead in the river estuary with locals told not to handle them.
The cause of the dead fish event has yet to be determined.

Past events have been linked to acidic water from rain water run off after dry spells.
It can flush put acidic soils from catchments and empty into the estuary.
