A local barista has been left shaken after an appalling act from an unhappy customer, who was upset she was left waiting too long.
Carly from Little Latte Drive Thru in Hoppers Crossing had hot coffee thrown on her by an unruly customer, in an incident Carly says she hasn’t seen for over a decade in the job.
“I’ve worked in hospitality for about 10-12 years and I’ve dealt with a lot,” she said.
“I’ve dealt with angry customers .. but I’ve never been put in a situation where someone has just made their mind a just gone ‘boom,’ it happened so fast as well.”
Sercurity footage of the incident has gone viral after it was shared on the coffee shop’s Instagram page on Wednesday.
Carly is seen handing a customer her coffee, before it is quickly thrown toward her, splashing on the barista and all over the counter.
“I think half of Melbourne is looking for them to be fair,” Carly said.
“Physically I’m okay, I was a little bit red, the ambulance checked me out, the police and ambulance were there within 10 minutes of it happening.
“But I’m just emotionally a little bit shaken and a bit overwhelmed from all the attention.”
The Little Latte Drive Thru has called on its customers to help find the woman responsible for the act.
They say it happened around 2pm on Sunday July 28.
