A new sporting precinct in Armstrong Creek is step closer.
Council giving approval to the Coastside Drive Recreation Reserve Master Plan, which will see 13.5 hectares of land turned into community spaces.
The land sits next to the new Biyala Primary School which will open in term one next year.
Charlemont Ward Councillor Emma Sinclair said the community had played a key role in the design.
“We asked the community what they thought, and their feedback helped shape the final plan,” she said.
“This will be an inclusive space with something for everyone – whether it’s sporting clubs playing games, families enjoying a picnic, or friends meeting at the playground.”
Mayor Stretch Kontelj said he was excited for what it would bring to the region.
“This reserve will be a real boost for community health and wellbeing,”” Mayor Kontelj said.” he said.
“Armstrong Creek is full of young families, so we’re planning spaces that grow with them – from playgrounds for kids to sports fields for teens and young adults.”
