A man has been arrested after leading police on a chase through Geelong’s northern suburbs on Thursday morning.
Officers spotted an allegedly stolen Mazda ute on the Midland Highway in Gheringhap just after 9am, it’s believed the ute was stolen from Hamlyn Heights overnight.
Police followed the ute which was seen speeding through Geelong suburbs including Maude, Anakie, Lovely Banks and Corio, before leaving the area on the Princes Hwy.
The air wing followed it to the Wyndham area, where it was seen travelling through Werribee and Hoppers Crossing residential streets.
The Mazda slowed down to avoid stop-sticks on Morris Road at the intersection of Sayers Road, before crashing into a tree about 10.30am.
The driver, a 25-year-old Sunshine North man, was arrested at the scene, he’s now under police guard in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
