A man’s been arrested after an armed robbery in Werribee.
He allegedly entered a store yesterday afternoon with an axe, stealing jewellery before fleeing.
The 22-year-old later arrested by police in Hoppers Crossing following a car chase.
“The man, brandishing an axe, entered the second-hand-dealers store in Station Place about 2.15pm where he threatened staff,“ police said in a statement.
“He smashed several glass display cabinets before stealing a large quantity of jewellery and fleeing in a vehicle.
“The man was spotted by police in the Nissan Navara in Kite Court, Werribee at approximately 3.20pm where he crashed into a residential fence while attempting to flee officers.“
The man is set to be interviewed.
