It’s back to business as usual at Avalon Airport, after a bomb scare sent the facility into lockdown.
Police confirmed an item was declared suspicious during a security screening, with emergency services called in just before 6am.
The airport was evacuated as a precaution and the area was cordoned off for the investigation.
The bomb squad was called to the scene and it was determined the item in question was a laser hair removal device.
Avalon Airport issued a statement at 10:30am, saying the situation had been resolved.
“The domestic terminal at Melbourne Avalon Airport has now reopened and operations have resumed,” a spokesperson said.
“Victoria Police have deemed the item is no longer deemed a risk.”
Some flights in and out of the airport were cancelled, while others experienced delays.
