Project lead Catherine Williams said the Allied Health Clinical Trials would streamline treatment and care for patients in regional communities.

“It is particularly important for our regional, remote and rural patients because we know from statistics that people with a cancer diagnosis who live in those areas do tend to have worse outcomes,” she said.

The oncology physiotherapist said the trial would see locals receive state-of-the-art care usually hard to access.

“We really do want people with a diagnosis of cancer who live in the Geelong and Barwon region, to have access to the best care possible closer to home.”
