An eight day rail shutdown between Geelong and Warrnambool will get underway this weekend.
Buses will be replacing trains on the line from Saturday until September 10, while major upgrade works will be conducted along the line.
Passengers travelling through the week will board a train between Geelong and Southern Cross Station.
However authorities say some weekend services will be replaced by buses for the whole journey between Melbourne and Warrnambool.
Work will also be continuing on major upgrades to South Geelong and Marshall stations during the same time as part of the South Geelong to Waurn Ponds duplicaiton.
Commuters are being advised to allow for extra time while the works are being carried out.
