Police have renewed calls for information following a death at Tarneit on Tuesday.
It’s believed a 63-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car at the intersection of Derrimut Road and Leakes Road around 5.30am.
“Enquiries by detectives have identified the driver and vehicle believed to be involved however the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation,” police said in a statement.
“A 32-year-old man from Truganina has provided a statement to police and the vehicle seized for forensic examination.”
Police say they want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area between 5 and 6am, with dashcam footage wanted.
Major Collision Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Mark Willey says it’s essential to piece together the woman’s movements.
“The circumstances leading up to this fatal collision remain unclear, and understanding the movements of the pedestrian before she was struck is a key focus,” he said.
“We’re asking motorists to review their footage. What may appear to be an ordinary recording of a morning drive could hold vital information.
“You may not realise you’ve captured something significant, but even a brief recording could provide the crucial information investigators need.”
