Calls to limit water usage across Geelong

Locals are being urged to be more water conscious across the region for the rest of summer.

Barwon Water says our current water storages are at 47.2 per cent – the lowest since 2009 during the millennium drought.

It comes with limited rainfall in parts of the storage area in the past two years.

Barwon Water Acting Managing Director Mel Stephens said we should all look at our water habits.

“Everyone has a role to play in saving water,” she said.

“Using water wisely and taking simple measures to save water around the home can help make a significant difference across the region.

“Simple actions like shorter showers, turning off taps while brushing teeth, and watering the garden in the cool of the day, can help save water.”
