Joel Selwood will present the premiership cup to Patrick Dangerfield and Chris Scott if Geelong claims the AFL flag on Saturday.

The AFL announced the cup ambassadors this morning, with Jonathan Brown to have the honour for the Lions.

The 2022 premiership captain and four-time premiership player will follow in the footsteps of Cameron Ling (2022), Doug Wade (2011), Bob Davis (2009) and Fred Wooller (2007) in handing the cup to the captain and coach.

“I’m extremely honoured,” Selwood said.

“This club holds a special place in my heart and has been such a big part of my life.

“It’s been a joy to watch the club continue to chase greatness every year, with so many of the players I’ve played alongside continuing to challenge in pursuit of football’s ultimate prize.”

Cats CEO Steve Hocking says it’s incredibly special to have Joel as their selection to present the cup.

“As our most recent premiership captain, Joel has had an indelible influence on so many of our current players, coaches and staff,” he said.
