The Commonwealth Bank will close two local branches, as it focuses on a new central office.
The bank has confirmed its Belmont and Lara offices will shut on June 26 this year, with its upgraded branch in Westfield Geelong opening its doors on June 1.
The central Geelong branch is moving across the the road from Market Square.
CBA Area Manager Tran Truong said its branches are popular banking centres for the community.
“We’re building on that by investing $2.4 million to expand services for customers across the area,” Ms Truong said.
“From June, we’ll be opening our new, upgraded Geelong branch at Westfield Geelong – a larger branch with more staff, including home lending specialists and business bankers, alongside tailored in-branch services and technology to make everyday banking quicker and more flexible.
“We warmly welcome the Belmont and Lara community to continue banking with us at our nearby Geelong branches.”
There are other CBA branches in suburbs including Corio, Geelong West, Ocean Grove and Torquay.
The upcoming closures mean the Bendigo Bank will be the only financial insitution with a branch presence in both Belmont and Lara.
