WorkSafe has laid charges over the assault of an officer at Lara’s Barwon Prison.
The prison officer was assaulted in February 2022.
WorkSafe is taking the Department of Justice and Community Safety to court over the assault, accusing it of failing to provide a safe working environment.

It is also alleging the department breached the OHS Act, by failing to provide necessary information or instruction to allow employees to work in a safe environment.
The matter is listed at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on April 23.
