A local MP has slammed Darren Cheeseman for his ‘cameo appearance’ in state parliament.
The member for South Barwon returned to the chamber on Tuesday morning, but was gone before Question Time.
It was the first time he had been parliament since being sacked from the Labor Party in April over allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards staff.
Cheeseman is listed as an Independent on the Victorian Parliament website.
Liberal member for Polwarth Richard Riordan said residents in the South Barwon electorate deserved better.
“The Labor Party has to get serious,” he said.
“He’s still the Labor party-endorsed member for South Barwon.
“They may have kicked him out of the party room, but he is still taking up a seat that is supposed to represent the people of South Barwon and the Geelong region.”
Victoria’s parliament is sitting again today.
