A planning permit application for five two-storey townhouses in Lara has been knocked by the City of Greater Geelong.
Developers had proposed the development for 24 Patullos Road, near Six Ways, which included the two-bedroom dwellings and a common property accessway.
The land currently had a single home on it.
The council says its planning committee received six objections, with issues including neighbourhood character and overshadowing.
While changes were made, the committee has refused to grant a planning permit.
The Committee has also resolved to fight a development proposal for Corio at VCAT.
The application for Sharland Road and McHarry Court is for 108 dwellings including 48 apartments.
A decision on the permit was not made within a statutory time frame, and the applicant appealed to the planning tribunal.
The city will ask VCAT to refuse a planning permit for the proposed development.
