Dogs could soon be allowed on a stretch of beach at Ocean Grove year round, as long as they are on a leash.
A report to go before Geelong councillors this evening is recommending changes to some dog control orders.
That includes having dogs on a leash at Buckley Park Foreshore Reserve, where dogs may be on leash or off, depending hooded plover breeding.

However, pooches may not be allowed in other areas across the municipality, including the Barwon River Sanctuary at Fyansford, where they are currently allowed on leash.
A new off-leash area will be created at Mount Brandon on the Barwon River, under the recommendations.
