Crews called to Newtown blaze

Emergency services have been called to a fire in Newtown.

Calls to emergency services reported smoke in the area, with initial reports a shed may have been on fire at a block of flats on Aberdeen Street, near the corner of Churchill Avenue.

Fire Rescue Victoria says crews, with the support of the CFA arrived on scene within seven minutes, finding it was a backyard blaze.

It was quickly declared under control.
