A public free dental clinic will be established in Geelong if Labor is re-elected in next month’s state election.

Premier Ben Carroll was at Barwon Health North making the pledge on Tuesday morning.

“This would be up and running by the middle of next year,” he said.

“It will be part of an expression of interest process.

“The hours will be between 9am and 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.”

The Premier said it would help families get the care they needed without worrying about the bill, as Medicare did not cover dental.

“It will give people the dental care support they need but also, that will have a big benefit in the overall health system, and their overall general health.”

Labor has promised 10 free clinics across Victoria, with three of those in regional centres.
