Speed limits are set to be reduced on some roads within the Golden Plains in a move aimed at boosting safety for pedestrians and all road users.
Golden Plains Council applied to the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning to reduce the speed limits.
They include Ackland Road in Lethbridge between Midland Highway and Broom Road, which will be reduced from 80km/h to 60km/h.
Other areas including roads in Haddon, Ross Creek and Smythesdale.
Mayor Brett Cunningham said the council listened to concerns from residents.
“Maintaining the safety of both pedestrians and road users on Golden Plains Shire’s road network is critical work, and these speed limit reductions support our commitment to road safety,” Cr Cunningham said.
“Council will continue to monitor speed limits in consultation with the community and identify projects that improve safety for all users residing in or passing through Golden Plains.”
The changes will come into effect from July 1.
