Greater Geelong is part of a new crackdown, targeting illegal dumping hotspots.
The state government has announced a $21.5 million Illegal Waste Dumping Taskforce, focussing on four council areas.
It will be using sniffer drones, able to detect methane and other gases, as well as long-range cameras to find illegally dumped rubbish, and track down those involved.
A recent hotspot campaign in Wyndham saw cameras able to identify trucks suspected of illegal activities.
The taskforce has also issued 22 clean-up orders, with another 18 incidents for investigation.
The City of Greater Geelong received over 6,600 requests to remove dumped rubbish in 2024/25.
