It is not quite how the story goes, but firefighters have rescued a kitten, not from a tree but a local drain.
The Connewarre CFA Brigade were called to the drain on Barwon Heads Road in Armstrong Creek last Thursday evening.
Members of the public raised the alarm after hearing meows coming from the area.
Rafal Kennedy from the brigade said crews were already in the area.
“The crew was responding to another incident nearby when we were alerted some members of the public had seen and heard the kitten in the drain,” he said.
The kitten was safely rescued and was not hurt.
The feline was then taken into the care of a local animal rescue.
