Five people have been arrested as local police crackdown on vehicle crime across Geelong and the Surf Coast.
Police from Geelong have swarmed on several properties across the region following the reported spate of cars being broken into and stolen.
A 22-year-old Norlane woman was arrested on Monday, in relation to 15 cars being broken into across Torquay, Anglesea, and Ocean Grove within the space of a week in October.
She was charged with dozens of offences, including 22 counts of theft from motor vehicle, she was bailed to face court at a later date after appearing at the Geelong Magistrates Court.
“Victoria Police maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards those who roam the streets, seeking opportunities to commit crime,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Gavin Mullins said.
“We are fully aware that stolen vehicles often lead to further criminal activities, which have absolutely no place in our community,” he said.
“While police are doing everything possible, we are urging the community to ensure they are securing their property and vehicles at all times.
“Police will continue to relentlessly target criminal behaviour in our community and ensure those responsible are brought before the courts”
Detectives also executed a search warrant at a Lara address where they reportedly recovered a camper trailer and a black Ford ranger which had been allegedly stolen earlier this year, arresting a 40-year-old man.
