Further arrests over CBD assault

A further three youths have been arrested over a laneway assault in Geelong’s CBD.

Footage of the April 1st incident showed a group of youths attacking a boy in an alley off James Street around 5.30pm, pinning him against a brick wall and assaulting him.

A number of teens allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.

Police raided homes in Hamlyn Heights, Whittington and Belmont on Thursday morning and arrested a further three teens.

Two 14-year-old boys were charged with affray, riotous behaviour, use threatening words in a public place and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

One was remanded in custody, while the other was released on bail, both set to face a children’s court at later dates.

A 16-year-old-boy was bailed after being charged with affray, riotous behaviour and use threatening words in a public place, set to face a children’s court at a later date too.

It brings the total number of arrests over the incident to six, with three boys taken into custody on Monday night.

One boy was released after police determined he wasn’t involved, while two others were charged with affray, riotous behaviour and using threatening words in public.
