Further charges in childcare investigation

A further 83 charges have been laid against a Point Cook man in the investigation into alleged sexual abuse at childcare centres.

27-year-old Joshua Brown is now facing a total of 156 charges, with four new victims identified in addition to the original eight.

The additional offences include six counts of penetration of a child under 12 and eight counts of producing child abuse material for use through a carriage service.

The updated list of charges relate to the additional victims, as well as further charges related to the initial eight.

The four new victims were placed at the following centres:

  • Nino Early Learning Adventures in Point Cook on 26 March, 2019
  • Only About Children in Williamstown on 1 December, 2020 and 22 February, 2021
  • Aussie Kindies Early Learning Centre in Keilor between 3 and 11 February, 2025

The affected families have been notified and provided with support.

Victoria Police, the Department of Health, and the Chief Health Officer have advised that no further testing has been recommended for the centres involved.
