Thousands of people have been shaken from their sleep after an earthquake near Mornington.
The magnitude 3.1 quake struck just after 4.30 this morning, with reports coming in from as far away as Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula
A hundred of felt reports have been made to Geoscience Australia.

Adam Pascale from the Seismology Research Centre says its not uncommon for tremors to be felt in the area.
“It is a location where we’ve had them before,” he said.
“We’ve had a magnitude five quake in the area back in 1971.”
No extensive damage has been reported.
