Viva Energy has agreed to a deal with the Federal Government, aimed at securing fuel supply for Australia.
The Geelong-based refinery will be able to move quickly to help get fuel where it needs to be, with the Government’s program also involving price support and working capital if needed.
Ampol’s made the same deal, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese making the announcement from their Lytton refinery.
“As part of this agreement, of course, the Government can direct where that supply goes,” the PM said
“So, that particularly [will be] going to regional Australia and areas that are under pressure in terms of supply.”
Viva Energy CEO Scott Wyatt said they’re proud to support Aussies during these challenging and uncertain times.
“We understand just how critical fuel is to keep motorists, farmers and businesses moving,” Mr Scott said.
“Our dedicated teams have been working tirelessly to keep our customers supplied from our Geelong refinery production as well as sourcing extra cargoes, managing challenging logistics and responding to rapid market developments.”
The deal was made through Export Finance Australia.
