Reiko Blue suffered leg fractures during a race on Tuesday afternoon.

A Steward’s Report says the one-year-old was humanely euthanised by an industry vet.

The Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds says it is the third death at Geelong this year.

It says 43 dogs have died on Victorian tracks so far this year, compared to 31 for all of 2023.

Rebekah Herron from the group said Reiko Blue was the youngest death on a Victorian racetrack.

“Greyhounds have been dying at appalling rates on the state’s tracks this year, with on-track racing deaths already up 39 per cent over the whole of 2023,” she said.

“It is by far the deadliest state in Australia.”
