Two teenagers from Hoppers Crossing and Altona Meadows have died after an accident involving off-road bikes at Melton.
An 18-year-old woman from Altona Meadows died at the scene of last night’s collision on Beattys Road in Grangefields, a newly-developed suburb between Rockbank and Melton.
A 17-year-old boy from Hoppers Crossing was flown to hospital in a critical condition but passed away overnight.
Two younger boys aged six and 11, also from Hoppers Crossing, were taken to hospital with serious injuries, along with a 43-year-old man from Altona Meadows.
Police are still investigating the exact circumstances but believe the two bikes, and possibly a quad bike, came to grief at around 6.30pm on Sunday.
They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
The deaths happened on a horror Father’s Day on Victoria’s roads inwhich four people lost their lives.
On Sunday morning a passer-by discovered the body of a 44-year-old man in the wreckage of a car after it hit a tree at Arcadia in the Goulbourn Valley.
And an 18-year-old was killed when the motorcycle he was riding struck a tree at Woodend just after 1am.
