A student is dead and multiple others are injured following a horror bus crash at Stonehaven.
The accident reported at around 8.20 this morning at the Hamilton Highway and Friend In Hand Road intersection.
Its been reported the bus was carrying as many as 40 students.
Emergency services remain on the scene.
One student – a yet to be identified girl – was killed in the accident.
Police confirmed their involvement.
“Police are currently in Stonehaven following a school bus roll-over,” a statement said.
“Emergency services were called about 8.20am and it’s understood several people have been seriously injured.
“We will provide an update as soon as possible.”
Ambulance Victoria said their priority remained with the patients.
Department of Transport confirmed multiple roads were closed as the accident was responded to.
“The Hamilton Highway is closed in both directions for a stretch between Inverleigh and Geelong, due to a serious collision at Stonehaven,” a statement said.
“Motorists should consider using the Geelong Ring Road, Princes Highway and Inverleigh-Winchelsea Road, adding nearly 30km to the journey.
“The closure is under the control of Victoria Police, and the road will be reopened once investigations are complete, and it is safe to do so.”
