No one in Cats history knows this moment quite like Joel Selwood.
Among the never ending list of accolades from his career, one stands out this week – he is the only Cats player to feature in four flags.
And he’s hoping to get his hands on a fifth cup tomorrow after being named the Cats premiership presenter for 2025.
“I actually went back and watched Lingy’s footage,” he told Geelong Broadcasters’ Tom, Lingy and Loggy.
“I wanted to know how he went about it so I’m ready. Hopefully about 10 past 5 that’s me tomorrow.”
It’s a different moment for the man who appeared in the Cats last six grand finals as he will watch on from the sidelines.
“I had a taste of it on Friday night as I watched the prelim, I haven’t been with my wife as a supporter in a while, and she hated it,” he joked.
“I rode every bump, it felt like I was back out there and I was genuinely exhausted.
“But I’ve largely tried to stay away from everything this week. I snuck into the club on Monday to do some interviews and I really wanted to stay, but I got away. It’s their time now.”
As for the day itself, Selwood admits he’s looking for the romantic moment.
“I really want to see Max (Holmes) win the Norm Smith,” he said.
“I’ve named someone different everytime, but he’d be a great winner.
“After missing out in 2022 I’d love to see him win it. And Brad Close for first goal, I think we can get a sneaky one early.”
