Christmas must be around the corner, with Geelong’s iconic floating tree taking its spot on the foreshore.
The structure was towed into place near the Carousel on Wednesday morning, for its 12th year delighting Christmas fans.
The tree will be officially lit up on Saturday night.
Scott Park from Total Events, the team behind the lights, said it could cause a few illusions on a cloudy night.
“One of our favourite things we do is watch the social media posts,” he said.
“..because invariably every cloudy night there are quite a few posts about what the UFOs are that can be seen over Geelong.
“But it’s always the spotlights off the Christmas tree.”
Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj also encouraged local homes and businesses to get into the festive spirit.
“We want businesses to activate their windows and really let’s celebrate quite big this year,” Cr Kontelj said.
The council has complimentary Christmas bows for businesses wanting to get involved.
