The latest crime stats have been revealed, showing a statewide 17% increase in criminal incidents in the year ending March 2025.
The Crime Statistics Agency showed Greater Geelong recorded a 12.2% jump, with close to 19,000 incidents recorded in the twelve month period.
Wyndham saw one of the biggest rises locally, up 29% compared to 2024.
Across Golden Plains, 639 incidents were recorded, up from 551 the year before, while there’s been a 6.4% increase around the Surf Coast.
Queenscliffe, the smallest of the local government areas (LGAs), saw a 22.2% jump, up from 63 incidents to 77 this year.
After recording a criminal incident rate just above the state average in 2024, Greater Geelong has this year recorded a rate slightly lower than that of Victoria as a whole.
The Surf Coast, Golden Plains, and Queenscliffe criminal incident rates sitting well below the state average.
Theft remains an issue across the region, the top offence across all LGAs in our region.
