Lifeblood has asked on residents across Geelong and the Surf Coast to roll up their sleeves and donate blood this long weekend.
The call for donations came after the organisation was forced to close 22 blood centres across Queensland and Northern New South Wales due to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
They’re in need of 1000 more people to put up their hand each day to make up the difference.

A number of appointments are available at the Geelong donation centre on Ryrie Street.
