Local institution Texas Hamburgers has shut up shop.
The cafe has served the Geelong community for over 50 years, operating on Mercer Street.
It was a go-to spot at any time of day, open 24 hours.
It’s not the only hospitality shutdown across the region, with multiple other closures hitting Geelong.
It’s a widespread issue across the rest of the state as well, with data from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission showing almost 600 hospitality businesses closed across Victoria in the year to October.
The numbers also show that 29 percent national insolvencies in the year to October came from the accommodation and food services industry.
