Local schools above capacity

There are calls for a revamp of school zones, with some local schools now considered overcrowded.

Figures show Mount Duneed Primary School is at 110 per cent capacity.

Others including South Geelong and Queenscliff Primary are also over 100 per cent.

Authorities say schools in growth areas of Wyndham are also not keeping up with the population boom in the municipality.

However, most of the low-enrolment schools are in rural areas.

The Victorian government earlier this year announced a tightening of zoning rules, after families were trying to get into public schools outside of their catchment area.
