Nearly 70% of Australian universities have slipped down the global rankings, a local institution no exception.
Deakin University has been named 207th in the QS World University Rankings for 2026, falling from 197th last year.
With campuses in Waurn Ponds and at Geelong’s Waterfront, Deakin was established as Victoria’s first regional university.
The result is the 14th highest across Australia, with the University of Melbourne coming in on top.
UniMelb not exempt from the nationwide slip however, falling from 13th in the world to 19th.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) over in the US coming as in number one overall.
