Locals against a proposed incinerator for Lara will be taking to the streets this weekend.
They are worried about plans for a waste-to-energy plant.
Prospect Hill International’s proposal for the facility on McManus Road is currently before the EPA.
The environmental watchdog is still going through the proposal, but locals are worried about the amount of rubbish that will be burned each year.
Residents claim the plant will burn 400,000 tonnes of rubbish each year, producing 25 tonnes of toxic waste for every 100 tonnes.
A rally will be happening on Saturday, with locals meeting at Austin Park at 11am before marching through the township.
