Machete drop off in Geelong

Geelong police station has been named as a machete drop-off point during a three month weapons amnesty.

It’ll be one of 45 police stations across Victoria where the bladed weapon can be surrendered in a secure bin.

Victoria will become the first state where machetes will become illegal to posses.

Those caught carrying the weapons will face jail time or fines of up to $47,000.

The machete amnesty will run for three months from September 1st until November 30.
