Two local schools have been forced into lockdown, police arresting a man with a machete outside Lara Secondary College.
Officers were called to Alkara Avenue around 8.40am on Friday to reports of man behaving suspiciously.
A search of the 24-year-old’s bag uncovered the machete, which police seized.

He was arrested and is expected to be charged on summons with weapon offences.
The neighbouring Lara Primary School was also sent into lockdown as the school day got underway.
