A Grovedale man’s been arrested after allegedly ramming a police vehicle on the Surf Coast.
Officers found a Subaru Impreza parked on the Great Ocean Road in Jan Juc around 7am on Wednesday, conducting checks and discovering the driver was allegedly wanted on outstanding matters.
Police boxed the vehicle in and used a tyre deflation device to stop the driver from fleeing, but he woke up and tried driving off.
The 27-year-old is accused of ramming a police van, causing two officers to jump out of the way.
Police then began tracking the car along the Great Ocean Road, successfully deploying stop sticks in Yuulong around midday.
The driver then fled on foot, sparking a chase through dense forest with officers unable to locate him.
Officers continued to make enquiries about his whereabouts and received a tip-off from a witness at a Lavers Hill café about 8.30am on Thursday.
Birregurra and Colac officers swarmed the area and located the man inside a public toilet block, safely arresting him.
As of Thursday afternoon, the man was in police custody and set to be interviewed.
