A man has been charged after allegedly driving a stolen car on its rims from Melbourne to Fyansford.
Police say the Public Order Response Team approached a man in Greensborough around 4am Wednesday on the Metropolitan Ring Road.
The man drove off despite being told to get out of the vehicle, hitting stop sticks.
The police helicopter tracked the Subaru Outback was detected being driven through Epping, Broadmeadows and Werribee.
The vehicle was allegedly spotted swerving across several lanes on the Princes Freeway just after 5.30am.
A police chase was started when the man took the Hamilton Highway exit and drove through Fyansford.
He hit a gutter on Hyland Street, but refused to get out of the car.
Police say OC Spray was used in the arrest of the man.
The 27-year-old from Eltham is charged with offences including car theft, theft, failing to stop for police and dangerous driving.
It is alleged the vehicle was stolen from Maribyrnong on November 1.
