Detectives are investigating whether two sexual assaults in Hoppers Crossing are linked.
A woman was assaulted by a man armed with a knife in a property around 11.30am Thursday, before the offender ran off.
Police say a woman was followed into a primary school building on Langridge Street just before 7am Friday and attacked.
A crime scene has also been set up on Branton Road, after a resident reported a possible burglary in their home overnight.
A 39-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested just before midday Friday, and will be interviewed.
Officers have increased their presence in the area.
Detectives are also asking locals around Whitsunday Drive and Langridge Street to check their CCTV or dash cam footage for anything around 11.30 Thursday morning and 7am Friday.
