Police will stage a stop-and-search operation in Geelong’s CBD after dozens of people were checked – and one arrested – for carrying a weapon at a busy local shopping centre.
Monday’s crackdown at Corio Village saw 44 people checked for weapons by members of the police Public Order Response Unit.
One man was taken into custody after he was allegedly found to be carrying a knife.

He is expected to face court at a later date.
Operation OMNI will move to central Geelong later this week.
