A Werribee man accused of setting his neighbour on fire over loud music has been refused bail.
The 44-year-old allegedly poured accelerant over a woman and set her on fire in December, 2022 followng a neighbourhood argument over music.
The Magistrates’ Court previously heard the victim was left with burns to 70 per cent of her body, spending months in hospital.
The accused applied for bail last week, with his lawyer claiming his client may have been acting in self-defence.
However the Magistrate refused the application on Monday, finding the accused was a risk to the public.
He is due to face court again in March for a committal hearing.
