A man has been charged with manslaughter following a long investigation into a fatal hit and run in Norlane last year.

31-year-old Bryce Trower was killed while riding an e-scooter along Forster Street, when he was allegedly hit by a black ute about 6.40pm on December 11.

Police later launched an investigation into the incident, eventually seizing the black Holden Rodeo, but the registered owner said they were not in possession of the vehicle at the time.

Detectives put out a fresh appeal for information last week, searching for the two occupants of the ute.

A search warrant was executed at a home in Newcomb on Thursday, where a 29-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were arrested.

The man has since been charged with manslaughter, dangerous driving causing death, fail to stop and render assistance and drive whilst disqualified.

He has been remanded to face Geelong Magistrates’ Court, while the woman was released pending further enquiries.

Police say they searched other homes in Norlane and Whittington on Friday morning, with a 30-year-old Whittington woman and 31-year-old Norlane man currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.
