Marles defends flights bill

A Senate vote could force Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles to reveal details of his VIP flights.

The Greens are demanding to know the dates and costs of each flight.

It follows criticism of the member for Corio over his VIP flights, including taking RAAF aircraft to Avalon Airport.

While the Defence Minister faced criticism over his bill, he told parliament the trips were an important part of government business.

“Everything I’ve done has been in pursuit of my duties as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence on behalf of this country,” he said.

“I stand absolutely by every flight that I have ever taken on special purpose aircraft.”
